Song of the Week

 

The D Man raved about Days, Real Estate's excellent 2011 debut and certified Top Ten album.  With luminous guitars and reverb-drenched harmonies, the New Jersey band seems to be driving at the essence of whatever indie-rock is supposed to be, especially on lyrically and musically deft tracks like "It's Real."

Real Estate will release Atlas in March.  Check out the video for first single "Talking Backwards," another shimmery little guitar ruby.

Song of the Week

The War on Drugs released two excellent spins in 2011, and The D Man simply wore out the full-length Slave Ambient and the EP Future Weather.  Adam Granduciel is a wide-open guitar whiz like his mate Kurt Vile, and the close friends and former bandmates share the same penchant for exploring the alternative side of the Traveling Wilbury road.

The Philly band is set to release their third album, Lost in the Dream.  The D Man has been stoking out on "Red Eyes," an incredible track that stirs up massive, open-road guitar dreams.  Don't forget about this song later in the year when you need to roll your windows down and exorcise your winter demons.
