It has been seventeen years since Mazzy Star's "Fade Into You" became an alterna-anthem for the (hip and) hopelessly romantic. Undoubtedly, no one will complain that Hope Sandoval and David Roback are releasing new music in what feels like ages. Sandoval's country timbre still smokes, and with their teetering-at-the-edges acousticism, the band's new single, "Common Burn," feels like falling away.
