Song of the Week

Will there only be endless drifting? On Beirut's gorgeous epic from the excellent The Rip Tide, Zach Condon contemplates as much.  So the waves and I found the rip tide. Yet somehow, amid the wanderlust, Condon makes all of the right connections.  Check out the beautiful video for one of The D Man's favorite songs from the past year.


An aside.  Last November, while driving through the Mojave desert, we listened to Beirut's ever-appropriate album.  In and out of sleep from the backseat, Rizzo finally cried out to turn off this crappy, half-formed music.  Something to that effect.  At the end of our trip, however, The D Man slipped in The Rip Tide for a second run at Rizzo.  I pushed play on this track.  After listening to the song without a word, the late-night stars arcing overhead, I quietly said that is some beautiful, epic stuff, right?  Rizzo agreed and asked who it was.  My reply: Beirut, b#@%h!  Best moment of the trip.
