What we have here is the first real contender for album of the year. The National have given us another classic release, proving they belong in any legitimate conversation about the best band in America.
I think "High Violet" could be their best work to date.
Good post. Time will definitely tell. After my third full listen of High Violet, there is no doubt the album will be one of this year's best. Better than Boxer? The fourth best album of the new millenium? Thankfully I still have many listens to come before I can even contemplate such a comparison.
